I can confirm that Brian Hewitt is out as the head men’s basketball coach at D2 Southern Wesleyan University. Hewitt coached the team as the interim coach during the 2022-23 season, and was given the job on a permanent basis last February. It sounds like current assistant coach Joel Stites will take over as the interim for the rest of the season.

Hewitt had been at SWU since 2021, when he was hired as an assistant by then head coach Nick Pasqua. Before his time with the Warriors, he served as an assistant coach at Lee University, and his alma mater King University. No reason has been given for his departure.

Southern Wesleyan is currently 3-17 (2-8 Conference Carolinas), and went 5-23 (5-15) last season.
