I can confirm that Texas A&M International will name Mac McConnell as their new head men’s basketball coach.

McConnell had spent the past three seasons as an assistant at Lone Star Conference foe Tarleton State University. The TSU alum has previously served the head coach at Ranger College (2007-11) and East Central University (2011-13). McConnell has also had stops as an assistant at Angelo State, McNeese State, University of Montana and Hill College.

He will replace Joel Taylor who went 9-46 in his two seasons at TAMIU.

An official announcement is expected this week.
