D2 DIRT: Texas Permian Basin opens

Story: Adam Nelson (@HD_DirtKing)

I have heard that D2 Texas Permian Basin head coach Josh Newman has resigned and will become a D1 assistant.

Newman has spent the past three seasons at UTPB, where he went 38-43 (.469). Prior to that, he was the head coach at Arkansas Fort Smith for 12-seasons where he helped the school transition from NJCAA to NCAA D2. Newman compiled a 75-20 mark at the NJCAA level for three seasons, and then in his nine seasons as a D2 member, went 168-100.

In addition to his time as a head coach, Newman spent three seasons as a D1 assistant at Nevada, and as a JUCO assistant at both McLennan CC and South Plains College.

I have a good idea of the West Coast school that he is headed to, but will wait for triple confirmation.

More on this when it becomes official.
