Following-up on something that I TWEETED last night…

I can now confirm that Danny Young has resigned as the head men’s basketball coach at D2 University of Montevallo (AL).

Young will depart as the winningest head coach in Montevallo men’s basketball history. During his 19-seasons at the helm, he put together a 372-209 (.640) record, won five-conference coach of the year awards, and was named as the NABC Region Coach of the Year twice. Along the way, his teams made 11 D2 tournament appearances, including advancing to the Sweet 16 eight times, and the Elite 8 three times.

Before taking over at Montevallo in 2003, Young spent two seasons as the head coach at Salem (WV), where he went 51-11 (.823). He has also been an assistant at Wheeling Jesuit, Nebraska Omaha, and Grand Canyon.

An official announcement is expected on Monday.
