Mulerider Men’s Basketball Head Coach Logan Quinn announced the hiring of Blake Rogers as his assistant coach for the 2026-27 school year.

Rogers makes his return to Magnolia after a short stint at Pittsburg State University where he served as an assistant men’s basketball coach last season.

Rogers and Quinn will reunite after a successful run together that saw the duo win a Great American Conference Championship with Rogers playing and Quinn as the head coach in 2022-23.

“I am extremely excited to welcome Blake Rogers back to SAU,” said Head Coach Logan Quinn. “Blake has an incredible perspective when it comes to SAU basketball – having been a player and Graduate Assistant Coach for us. His Championship history with our program will do nothing but elevate each aspect of our culture on a daily basis. Having been through the fire of competition with Blake, I know how important he will be to me and to the rest of our organization. His character fits exactly who we want on our coaching staff, and I am confident that we will see dividends from his leadership immediately.”

During his time at Pitt State, the Gorillas saw two players earn All-MIAA honors with one player landing on the second team and one player earning honorable mention.

After finishing his playing career for the Muleriders in 2022-23, Rogers joined the coaching staff as a graduate assistant coach for two seasons. Over his two years on the coaching staff, three players were named to All-GAC teams including, BJ Davis, Gregory Hammond Jr., and CJ Ray.

During his three years as a player for the Blue and Gold, Rogers scored 900 career points while being a career 39.9% shooter from the field and 35.65% from beyond the arc while averaging 10.8 points per game over the course of three years. Blake also tallied 155 rebounds, 154 assists, 46 steals, and six blocks while playing in 83 games for SAU. He also was a part of the 2023 squad that won the Great American Conference Tournament defeating Arkansas Tech 89-69 in the championship game.

“Returning to SAU is a tremendous blessing and an opportunity that means a great deal to me,” said Blake Rogers. “Southern Arkansas University became my second home, where I competed as a student-athlete and built relationships that helped shape who I am today. I am incredibly thankful to Coach Quinn, Coach Browning, Dr. Hicks, and the entire SAU family for believing in me and giving me the chance to come back and serve this university. I’m excited to help develop our student-athletes on and off the court, contribute to a program I am proud to call home, and continue building on the tradition and culture that make SAU such a special place. Go Muleriders!”
