Capital University men’s basketball has announced that head coach Damon Goodwin will serve the remainder of the 2024-25 season in a limited capacity as he navigates through some medical-related concerns.
During this time, Coach Goodwin will continue to recruit and advise with the coaching staff, while long-time Assistant Coach Anthony Gholson will serve as the Interim Head Coach for the remainder of the season. Gholson will lead the Comets on the sidelines and through practices with the assistance of fellow assistant coaches Anthony Mangette and Ryan Coan.
“We fully support Coach Goodwin during this time and wish him well,” said Director of Athletics and Recreation Dr. Darrell Bailey Sr. “We will provide Coach Gholson with all necessary resources to continue the progression of the program this season.”
Earlier this season, Coach Goodwin achieved his 450th career win with a 73-58 win at Kenyon College. In achieving this milestone, Coach Goodwin became the 16th active Division III head coach to reach the mark. Goodwin is Capital’s winningest head coach in program history with 451 victories.
