Carroll University Head Men’s Basketball Coach Paul Combs has announced the hiring of Taylor Jannsen ’11 as the top-assistant basketball coach for the men’s basketball program.
“Our men’s basketball program is very excited about the addition of Pioneer Alum Taylor Jannsen to our coaching staff with his wife, Cayla,” says Combs. “Coach Jannsen is a winner on and off the court and cares deeply about his alma mater and doing things the right way. Taylor is a highly respected coach and teacher, bringing a competitive spirit and a strong desire to make us better in all facets of the game. Strength and conditioning, individual skill development, and nutrition are just a few areas Jannsen will teach our student-athletes.”
Jannsen, a 2011 Carroll University graduate, and men’s basketball alum started PMax Basketball following his graduation from Carroll. Jannsen worked with numerous athletes ranging from youth up to the professional ranks. In addition to player development for individuals and teams, Jannsen has over twelve years of head coach experience in some of Wisconsin’s top AAU organizations. Outside of Basketball, Jannsen has authored two books and has conducted public speaking engagements for schools, charitable organizations, and small and large businesses.
In his four years as a member of the Carroll University men’s basketball team, Jannsen appeared in 71 total games, including 21 in 2009-10. Jannsen averaged 6.4 points per game and 2.6 assists per game in his senior season as the team captain. Jannsen shot just under 50% from the floor and over 36% from three. Jannsen graduated from Carroll in 2011 with a degree in exercise science and from Pewaukee High School in 2007.
“Personally, I am excited to work with a friend who I admire and respect a great deal on and off the court,” says Combs. “The Pios and our young team took a giant step forward today for the future of our program.”
Jannsen resides in Waukesha with his wife, Cayla.
