D3 DIRT: Keene State set to name interim head coach today

Story: Adam Nelson (@HD_DirtKing)

I have heard through multiple sources that D3 Keene State College will elevate associate head coach David Hastings to the role of interim head coach as early as today. Hastings would replace his former boss Ryan Cain, who took over at Johns Hopkins late last month.

Hastings began on the Keene State staff in 2016 as an assistant, and was promoted to associate head coach in 2018. Last season, he was part of a program that went 28-2 (16-0 Little East), captured the Little East Championship, and advanced to the NCAA D3 Sweet 16.

Prior to his time at KSC, Hastings was the head coach at Pioneer Valley High School, where he led his teams to eleven appearances in the Western Massachusetts State Tournament.  He also served as the Director of The Edge (AAU) in Western Mass.

Interesting side note…Hastings is the retired Chief of Police in nearby Gill, MA.

More on this move once it becomes official.
