D3 DIRT: Keene State’s Cain headed to Johns Hopkins

Story: Adam Nelson (@HD_DirtKing)

Following-up on my TWEET from earlier today…I can confirm that Keene State head basketball coach will take over at Johns Hopkins. He will replace Josh Loeffler, who became an assistant at Cincinnati earlier this month.

Cain had a great run at Keene State, compiling a 144-66 (.689) record during his eight seasons with the Owls. This past year, he led his team to a 28-2 (16-0) record, captured the Little East regular season and tournament championship, and advanced to the NCAA D3 Sweet 16.

Prior to his time at KSU, Cain spent 12 years as both a player and a coach at WPI. He is currently the Engineers’ all-time leading scorer and led the WPI to four NEWMAC regular season championships and a pair of league tournament titles.

An official announcement on this move is expected tomorrow.

On a side note this is the second small college job in New Hampshire to open today. More on the impending announcement at D2 Franklin Pierce here –> D2 DIRT.
