D3 NEWS: Loeffler promoted to full-time associate head coach at Swarthmore

Shane Loeffler has been elevated to the role of full-time associate head men’s basketball coach at Swarthmore.

Loeffler has been a member of the men’s basketball coaching staff since 2017. During his five seasons on the Swarthmore bench, the Garnet have posted a 132-21 overall record as they’ve established themselves as one of the elite programs in Division III. Men’s basketball has made it to the NCAA Tournament in all five of those seasons, while earning a pair of Final Four appearances and capturing two Centennial Conference Championships. Swarthmore was also ranked No 1 in the nation with a 28-1 overall record before the 2020 NCAA Tournament was canceled due to the pandemic.

A 2016 graduate of Swarthmore College with a degree in political science, Loeffler played point guard for four seasons with the Garnet. A team captain his senior season, Loeffler helped lead the team to a then program-best 22-8 record and an appearance in the Centennial Conference Championship game.
