D3 NEWS: White retires as Head Basketball Coach at Dominican University

Dominican University head men’s basketball and golf coach Mark White is retiring from coaching after 25 years at DU.

Coach White has been a mainstay at Dominican and has helped to create what DU athletics is today. He has been a leader not only for his teams and the department but in the school as a whole. His dedication to the Stars has been unmatched during his time at Dominican.

“I have loved being a member of the Dominican University community the last 25+ years,” Coach White said. “It was something that I appreciated very much and gave all of my effort too. I have developed lifelong amazing friendships and have many fond memories. The most difficult thing about retiring from collegiate coaching is that I will greatly miss the student-athletes in both the Men’s Basketball and the Men’s Golf programs. I wish them all of the best moving forward.”

In his basketball coaching career, White’s success was highlighted in his run from 2005-2010 in which his program had double digit win totals for five straight seasons. White also coached the team to top four finishes in the conference multiple times and hosted numerous conference tournament games.

Coach White has also been crucial in his role as the Associate Director of Athletics for the department. Luckily, he will be continuing to work in athletic administration as he is as good for DIII athletics as anyone.

All of us from Dominican Athletics thank Mark for what he has done for the program, school, and each of us on a personal level. Congratulations on a great coaching career!
