Catching-up on a bunch of things…

Hartford has added former NJIT assistant Jeff Rafferty to their staff. Rafferty inked a one-year deal, as the Hawks wrap-up their time at the D1 level. The veteran coach has also been an assistant at Delaware, UNH, UMass-Lowell, and Texas Pan American (now UTRGV). An official announcement is expected shortly.

According to multiple reports, including to one from the Detroit Free Press, former Eastern Michigan head coach, and current Detroit Pistons GM Rob Murphy has been placed on leave by the organization. Murphy was the head coach at EMU from 2011-21, and was also an assistant at Syracuse (2004-11), and Kent State (2002-04). He spent last season as the president of the Pistons’ G League affiliate, the Motor City Cruise. Read the full report HERE.

D3 Notre Dame (Maryland) is going co-ed and starting men’s basketball next season. I have heard that they are in the final stages of hiring a new coach, with finalists being brought to campus over the past week. Sounds like this one could be wrapped up by the end of this week, and the new coach will be able to hit the recruiting trail ASAP.

Sean Tabb had departed the Brandeis staff, and has taken over as the head coach at the Middlesex School (MA). Tabb had been at Brandeis for the past nine seasons, most recently serving as the associate head coach. He also spent two seasons as an assistant at Brown (2010-12). Middlesex had been coached by former Harvard and Colgate assistant Bill Holden for the past 12-years. Holden took a HS AD job at the end of the summer.

Cole Morris has been hired as an assistant at D3 Wentworth (MA). He spent last season working at DME Academy (Daytona, FL) and was a player at Penn State DuBois before that.

D2 UT Tyler has added Robert Rollinson as an assistant coach. Rollinson most recently served as an assistant at Lewis University, and has also worked at Park University, University of Saint Francis, and South Mountain CC.

Mike Sugamosto has been tabbed as an assistant basketball coach at D3 SUNY Morrisville. Sugamosto was the GM of the Syracuse Stallions (TBL) for the past four seasons. While with the Stallions, his teams went 87-19, and he was named as the TBL National General Manager of the Year in 2020. He also spent two seasons as an assistant at D3 Cazenovia College (NY).

Victor Lin has joined the staff at Hood College as an assistant coach. Lin was a manager at Maryland from 2017-22, where he was part of two NCAA Tournament teams.

ICYMI from yesterday…NAIA Northern New Mexico College head coach Ryan Cordova has been placed on paid administrative leave. More on this one HERE.
