A few quick things that I’ve heard on St. Patrick’s Day…

  • I mentioned Northern Colorado head coach Jeff Linder at Wyoming a few times last week. I’ve been told by multiple sources that he is now the clear cut leader, but it is not done yet. It seems like things are moving quickly in Laramie, and this search could be wrapped up shortly.

  • Samford names are already starting to surface. As I Tweeted earlier today, Mountain Brook HS (AL) head coach Bucky McMillan is on the list here. He’s killed it in his 12-years at the school which is located about 6 miles from Samford’s campus. Other names to keep an eye on here: Ole Miss assistant Ronnie Hamilton, Florida Southern head coach Mike Donnelly, and former Citadel head coach Ed Conroy.
  • A name that I keep hearing at Western Michigan is current Michigan Saddi Washington. The 1998 WMU alum has worked for both John Beilein and Juwan Howard at Michigan. The Lansing, MI native also spent 10 seasons on Greg Kampe’s staff at Oakland. Working on some other names here (including a current head coach who may be released soon….).
  • I’ve heard that former NBA guard Doug Overton, who took a leave of absence as the head coach at D2 Lincoln U (PA), is now officially done. There seems to be a lot of support for interim head coach Gene Lett, Jr. to get the job, but it sounds like the school may be doing a search. More on this one as I hear it.
