Daily Dirt – 3/18/20

A few quick things that I’ve heard while hunkered down at the HD world HQ:

  • A couple new names emerging at UIC…I have now heard that Iowa State assistant Daniyal Robinson and Louisville assistant Luke Murray are in the mix. Robinson is an Illinois native who spent time at Loyola (Chicago). I’ve heard that Murray is also involved at Loyola Marymount (more on the LMU search soon..).
  • With Tennessee assistant Kim English now out of the running at SEMO, a bunch of other names are now making the rounds. Some that I’ve heard are: Kansas State assistant Brad Korn, Utah State assistant David Ragland, and John A. Logan College head coach Kyle Smithpeters. More names as I hear them…
  • Steve Smiley has been named as the interim head coach at Northern Colorado following the departure of Jeff Linder to Wyoming. Not sure yet where the search is headed, but I’ve heard from multiple sources to keep an eye on Colorado associate head coach Mike Rohn here. I’ll have more as this one continues to develop.
  • With Doug Overton’s resignation at Lincoln U. (PA) now official, I’ve heard from a bunch of people that Marist DBO Dorian Long should be in play here. He worked at Lincoln from 2016-18, and recruited a a good percentage of their current roster.
