Daily Dirt – 3/21/23

Story: Adam Nelson (@HD_DirtKing)

Tobin Anderson is obviously the hot name right now at Iona. Before becoming a household name after knocking off Purdue in the tourney, Anderson went 209-62 (.771) at nearby D2 St. Thomas Aquinas. Other name like former Manhattan head coach Steve Maisello (spent last season as an advisor on Pitino’s staff at Iona) and UConn associate head coach Kimani Young (a NYC native) are making the rounds here, but sounds like Anderson is getting a lot of traction with this one right now, and this could be done soon. *UPDATE: Anderson to Iona is done – more HERE*

Is it possible that there is a D1 job open that no one knows about (that has already started interviews)? More on this one soon…

A lot of people reporting that Mike Brey to South Florida is done. While he definitely interviewed down there, I have heard that it’s NOT done yet (but could be in the next 24-48 hours). Stay tuned…

The search at D2 Adams State (CO) is underway. The most interesting name that I’ve heard here is former UT Tyler head coach Louis Wilson. He was the head coach at Adams State from 2010-14 (95-46 – .674), and also served as a D1 assistant at Grand Canyon, Utah State, Idaho State, and CSUN. More names here when I hear them.

I reported over the weekend that Tim Ryan has resigned as the head coach at Mississippi Gulf Coast CC (still no official release by the college yet). I have been told to keep an eye on Gulfport HS head coach Owen Miller here. He is a long-time D1 assistant with stops at Mississippi State, Texas San Antonio, Colorado State, and Ole Miss.
