Daily Dirt – 3/13/17

Some things that I’ve heard as we prepare for a March blizzard here in New England…

  • Early “hot” name at Alabama A&M is current Columbus State (GA) head coach Robert Moore. He led CSU to a 20-10 record this past season and a spot in the NCAA DII tournament. Moore has won at least 20 games in each of the last three seasons.
  • I have heard that College Sports Solutions will be handling the search to replace John Cooper at Miami (OH).
  • UMass expects to offer their new head coach a five-year deal with a salary of  $800,000-$900,000 plus bonuses. They are paying Fogler Consulting $25,000 for the search.
  • Some names that I’ve heard to replace Mike Jones at DII Tusculum College (TN) are: King College (TN) associate head coach Nick Pasqua, Maryville College (TN) associate head coach Raul Placeres, and Lincoln Memorial (TN) assistant Chris Cottrell.
  • The interim tag has been removed from Vic Finora at DII Mars Hill. He took over for Rick Scruggs back in late November. The Lions finished 6-22 this past season.
  • There is a job posting for the head basketball coach at DIII SUNY Oneonta floating around out there. I have heard that it is just a formality (state reg), and first-year head coach Cameron Conover will be returning. He led his team to a 17-11 record in year 1.
