Daily Dirt – 3/16/16

Going to be another busy day today.  Here are somethings that I’ve heard over the past 24 hours…

  • I can confirm that Providence associate head coach Andre LaFleur has had “extended conversations” with athletic directors from Central Connecticut State and the University of San Francisco.  LaFleur joined Ed Cooley’s staff back in 2011 after a 10-year run as an assistant at UConn. He played for Jim Calhoun at Northeastern, and is a native Californian.
  • I’ve heard that Rutgers has 7-years on the table for URI’s Dan Hurley.  As I mentioned earlier this week, he’s definitely their #1 target.  AD at Pat Hobbs is keeping his bases covered though   – I have heard that he has also interviewed ESPN’s Jay Williams (a NJ native) and George Washington head coach Mike Lonergan.  Other names being mentioned are Albany head coach Will Brown, Stony Brook Head Coach Steve Pikiell, and Iona head coach Tim Cluess.
  • I have heard that Eddie Fogler has the James Madison search.  It sounds like there are a bunch of high major assistants who are sniffing around this one.
  • A “hot” name right now at Southern Utah is Utah assistant DeMarlo Slocum. He has been on the Utes staff for the past five seasons, and has also worked at Colorado State, Idaho, and USC.  I’ve also heard that he is involved at Santa Clara.
  • I have a bunch of DII stuff – hope to put that together and get it published later this afternoon – stay tuned…
