Yesterday was wild…I expect much of the same throughout the week. Here are some things that I’ve heard so far today…
- I have heard that Milwaukee has Parker Executive Search to help find the replacement for Rob Jeter. In case you missed it, here is great footage of Wisconsin State Senator Lena Taylor (D-Milwaukee) taking UWM AD Amanda Braun to task over her firing of Jeter. Good for Senator Taylor for standing up for him!
- A couple early names that I’ve heard surrounding the search at James Madison (Eddie Fogler running this search): Kevin Sutton – assistant coach Georgetown, and former Arkansas and South Alabama head coach John Pelphrey. I also mentioned Pelphrey on Saturday as being involved at WKU as well. More names as I hear them…
- Word on the street is that Wright State AD Bob Grant is not going to hire a search firm and will run this himself. I have heard that he is focusing on sitting DI head coaches before considering and high major assistants.
- I have heard from a great source that DIII SUNY Potsdam has started phone interviews for their vacant men’s basketball position. The names that I heard are: Justin Stern (assistant coach Oswego State), Pete Durr (DBO Colgate), Sean Coffey (assistant coach St. John Fisher), and an America East assistant. There will 2-3 more phone interviews before the group is paired down for on-campus visits.
- I have heard that a long-time DIII head coach with over 400 career wins will announce his retirement as early as this afternoon. Stay tuned on this one…
