Daily Dirt – 3/29/17

It’s one of those day – so much “dirt”, so little time…Here are a few things to start the day. More updates later…

  • It sounds UNC Wilmington is down to four candidates in the search to replace Kevin Keatts. Three of the four include Arizona associate head coach Joe Pasternack, North Carolina assistant coach C.B. McGrath, and Florida Gulf Coast head coach Joe Dooley. There is some speculation that the fourth candidate is Louisville assistant coach Kenny Johnson. Sounds like this one is moving quickly.
  • Boston Celtics assistant Micah Shrewsberry is no longer on the running at UMass. Hot name there now is Chattanooga head coach Matt McCall. Some are saying that a deal with the former Florida assistant is imminent.
  • Lamont Evans is staying on at Oklahoma State as the associate head coach to new head coach Mike Boynton. He is a former South Carolina and Kansas State assistant.
  • A few more names that I’ve heard at Coppin State are: Maryland eastern Shore associate head coach Clifford Reed, Morgan State assistant (former Michigan head coach) Brian Ellerbe, and Maryland assistant coach (former Jacksonville head coach) Cliff Warren. They can be added to the names that I mentioned last week (Daily Dirt – 3/24/17).
  • I’ve heard that a really good DII job in the RMAC is open. More when it becomes official…
  • Interviews have started at DII Tusculum College (TN) and Newman University (KS). I have some of the names involved, and will publish search updates later today.
