Quiet over the last 24 hours – here are a few things that have surfaced…..

We’ve gotten a bunch of questions about the Alabama A&M position. It’s been a slow process, but here’s what I’ve found out. So far, there are 41 applicants for the position. The search committee has begun to review them, and will narrow the list down to three. Once the three have been decided on, AD Betty Austin will meet with each one and consult with the committee who will recommend who should be hired. There is no timeframe right now to get this done.

I’m hearing the former Manhattan head coach Barry Rohrssen may be in the mix to return to the staff at Pitt. Slice was on the staff at Pitt from 1999-2006 – starting as the DBO, and eventually becoming the associate head coach before departing for Manhattan. He went 52-70 in 4 seasons at Manhattan before being released earlier this spring.

Miami officials were in Boston yesterday to interview Harvard head coach Tommy Ammaker. Multiple sources are reporting that Miami has made an offer to Ammaker and he is currently mulling his options. A decision is expected within the next day or so.

There is some support being drummed up at Colgate for current Tulsa assistant Jeremy Ballard. Ballard is a 2003 Colgate grad and spent three seasons as an assistant there after graduation. I’ve also heard Northeastern assistant Pat Duquette’s name mentioned here. He is a former BC assistant and a Williams grad – an academic background is a must for a place like Colgate.
