Sun Belt Program Set to Add New Assistant from Big 12 Staff
I have heard that Georgia State will add Stevie Taylor as an assistant coach. Taylor had been on the staff at Iowa State for the past two seasons. He has also worked at Toledo and Nicholls State, and served as an graduate assistant at Boston College. This move should be officially announced this week.
Longtime ACC Assistant in the Mix for Big East Spot
It sounds like former Virginia assistant Jason Williford is involved with a spot on Ed Cooley’s staff at Georgetown. Williford, a UVA alum, had been on the Cavaliers staff for the past sixteen seasons. He’s also had stints as an assistant at BU and American. He was not retained at UVA after Ryan Odom took over last month.
National Championship Staffer set to follow Hovde to Columbia
I have heard that Florida graduate assistant Chasen Hofmann will follow former UF assistant Kevin Hovde to Columbia and serve as the Lions Director of Basketball Operations. Hofmann is a NYU alum who joined the Gators staff prior to this past season.
Associate Head Coach Departs America East Program for Private Sector
I can confirm that UMass Lowell associate head coach John Iati has departed the River Hawks staff. It sounds like he will be entering the private sector. He had been at UMass Lowell for the past four season after spending eight years on the staff at his alma mater Albany.
Central Michigan Search Update
Back on 4/7 (Daily Dirt), I mentioned Michigan State assistant Jon Borovich’s involvement at Central Michigan (there are some who believe he may have turned this one down – can’t confirm that though). More names are starting to make the rounds as this one gets closer to wrapping up, including Western Michigan associate head coach Chris Fowler and a current D2 head coach from the state. Fowler is a Michigan native and CMU alum, who also served as a GA for Tom Izzo at Michigan State. Working on more names as we speak. It is expected that this job will wrap this week. More on this one as I hear it. *UPDATE: The current D2 head coach got it. Andy Bronkema from Ferris State has officially been hired More HERE.
D2 Lincoln Memorial Search Restarts
A name making the rounds at D2 Lincoln Memorial is Tony Jasick. The veteran coach spent the last part of the 2024-25 season as the interim head coach at Stephen F. Austin and also served as the head coach at Purdue Ft. Wayne (2011-14) and Jacksonville (2014-21). Jasick holds a Master’s Degree from Lincoln Memorial. This search is onto round two after Brent Owen decided to remain at Lenoir-Rhyne. Other names here include a Sun Belt associate head coach, and a bunch of small college head coaches.
