Daily Dirt – 4/16/14

So much “dirt’, so little time…a few things to start the morning – more to come later…

• I have now heard from two separate sources that former Auburn assistant Ryan Miller is in the mix for a spot on Dave Rice’s staff at UNLV. Miller had spent the past two seasons at Auburn under Tony Barbee – he was on Steve Alford’s staff at New Mexico for five years before that. Miller is also the brother of NBA veteran Mike Miller.

• It sounds like St. Augustine’s (NC) assistant MarQus Johnson is in the mix to replace Tony Sheals as the head coach there. Johnson has been at St. Aug for the past two seasons – he was also an assistant there from 2008-2010. He is in line to replace Sheals who became the head coach at Virginia Union last week.

• Here’s an interesting one…two very separate sources have told me that former Notre Dame and NBA guard David Rivers could land as an assistant at Kennesaw State. No idea what the connection here is, but I have two pretty good guys on this one. Rivers played for both the Lakers and Clippers before finishing his career overseas. He was a first round pick by the Lakers in 1988. More on this one as I hear it.
