Daily Dirt – 4/18/14

Big day here – impact transfer on campus. Here are a few things to get the day started – hope to have more later…

• I have heard that former Virginia Tech assistant Kurt Kanaskie is involved with a spot on the Jacksonville staff. Kanaskie worked at VTech since 2012 – he was a long-time assistant at Penn State before that and also was the head coach at Drake from 1996-2003.

• I can confirm that John Mackson is out as the head coach at Michigan Dearborn. No reason has been given for his departure. He had been the head coach there since 2011 – he won 18 games during his tenure.

• The two names that I’ve heard the most at Cal State Los Angeles are Phil Mathews and Jim Saia. Mathews is the head coach at Riverside CC – he is a former UCLA assistant, and was the head coach at San Francisco. Saia is the head coach at Cal State San Marcos, and was the former interim head coach at USC. There are at least two other current head coaches involved here as well.
