Daily Dirt – 4/19/21 (UPDATED)

A quick Patriots Day edition of the Daily Dirt…

UNCG is moving quickly with their search to replace Wes Miller. I heard that Zoom interviews took place this weekend. Some names making the rounds are: Radford head coach Mike Jones, Northwest Missouri Head Coach Ben McCollum, and Kentucky assistant Joel Justus. I’ve also heard that two other head coaches had Zooms this weekend. Sounds like an offer will be made here sometime this week. UPDATE: Adding Florida assistant Darris Nichols to the list here.

The search at Central Connecticut is down to 4 – 3 D1 assistants and one small college head coach. Final interviews are this week.

I have heard that Wichita State assistant Lou Gudino is in the mix to join Joe Golding’s new staff at UTEP. Gudino has been at WSU for the past three seasons, and has also worked as a D1 assistant at Louisiana Tech (2005-07), Indiana State (2007-17) and New Mexico State (2017-18). He also spent two seasons as the head coach at Frank Phillips Junior College (TX).

It sound like Ed Conroy has joined Jerry Stackhouse’s staff at Vanderbilt. Conroy was the head coach at The Citadel (2006-10) and Tulane (2010-16), and was most recently an assistant at Minnesota. I have heard the official announcement will be made this week.

A really good JUCO in Florida has opened. More soon…
