Daily Dirt – 4/30/18

A few things to start the week…

  • Portland State assistant coach Kahil Fennell has joined Chris Mack’s new staff at Louisville as the Director of Basketball Operations. Fennell was the associate head coach at Texas-Permian Basin for two years before joining the Portland State staff prior to last season. An official announcement is expected shortly. **UPDATE: It’s now official: Louisville Support Staff Update**

  • Cal Poly associate head coach Paul Mrozik has accepted an assistant spot at Mercer. Mrozik has been at Cal Poly since 2016, and was the head coach at Mountain Mission School (VA) before that. The official announcement is expected any day.

  • I have heard that Newberry College assistant coach Jay Reid will depart the Wolves staff to become an assistant at DII powerhouse Lincoln Memorial (TN). Reid had spent the past two seasons at Newberry where he helped recruit back-to-back South Atlantic Conference Freshmen of the Year. Prior to joining the Newberry Reid served as the associate head coach at USC Salkehatchie and as an assistant at Davis & Elkins.

  • I can confirm a report by Josh Verlin that Penn State Brandywine head coach Ben Kay has resigned. Last season was Kay’s first at Brandywine, where he led his squad to a 21-7 record, and captured the PSUAC tournament championship. HoopDirt.com will have the job posting shortly.
