Daily Dirt – 4/7/22

Story: Adam Nelson (@HD_DirtKing)

Today’s Daily Dirt…

I have heard that UMass Lowell assistant coach Biko Paris has resigned. Sounds like he is getting out of the business. Paris, a former player at Boston College, had sent the past nine seasons as an assistant at Lowell.

In yesterday’s Daily Dirt, I mentioned that phone interviews have started at VMI. Some names making the rounds here are former App State assistant Jason Allison (a former VMI assistant), former Central Arkansas head coach Russ Pennell, South Florida assistant Jason Slay (former VMI assistant), and at least two current head coaches. Sounds like on campus interviews will take place as early as next week.

Very early in the search at Elon, but I have heard that they will be hiring a search firm to assist. Will hope to find out who it is shortly. **UPDATE: Parker has the search**

Sounds like Steve Lavin’s deal at San Diego will be in the $800k-$1m range. Official press release on the hiring is due out this afternoon.

Also in yesterday’s DD, I said that former Omaha assistant Tyler Erwin was the leader at NAIA Midland University – I have now heard from multiple sources that it is a done deal, and an announcement is expected shortly. Stay tuned.

A trend to keep an eye on in the next few weeks…JUCO head coaches headed to D1 as assistants (I see you Mizzou). More on these moves soon.

ICYMI…from last night. I’ve heard that D3 Wilmington College (OH) is open. More HERE. More D3’s coming soon…
