Busy day here at the HD World Headquarters – here are a bunch of things that I’ve heard…
- I have heard that Eric Skeeters will join Ryan Odom’s staff at UMBC. He has been an assistant at George Mason, South Florida, Towson, Virginia Tech, Youngstown State, and Coppin State. I have also heard that Bryce Crawford and Nate Dixon, who were on Odom’s staff at Lenoir-Rhyne last season will join him as well (unless Dixon gets the Lenoir-Rhyne job).
- Providence associate head coach Andre LaFleur is headed to UNLV where he will join Marvin Menzies new staff. The West Coast native had been at PC since 2011, and also spent ten seasons on Jim Calhoun’s staff at UConn.
- I have heard that Will Jones (FAMU) and Ray Martin (Grambling State) will join Jay Joyner’s new staff at NC A&T. Last season was Jones first at FAMU – he has also been an assistant at Jacksonville, Charleston Southern, and Northwest Florida. Martin is a veteran head coach who spent time as the head coach at LIU-Brooklyn (1998-2001) and also spent eight seasons at NC State with Jim Valvano.
- Dave McHugh reported that Roanoke College will hire Clay Nunley to replace the retiring Page Moir. In his nine seasons as the head coach at Randolph College, Nunley has gone 123-116 (17-12 this past season). The official announcement is expected tomorrow.
- Earlier today, I posted the final four candidates at Utica (Utica Search Update). I mentioned the decision had been made and was waiting on confirmation on the choice. McHugh also confirmed what I had heard – that Utica will hire St. John Fisher College assistant Sean Coffey. He has been an assistant at SJF since 2011 and is a SUNY Oneonta alum. The announcement is expected shortly.
