Daily Dirt – 5/11/18

Catching up on a bunch of things…

  • UNC Asheville has officially announced the hirings of Kyle Perry and R.J. Evans over the past few days. Not a huge secret here, but the official press release on Mike Moynihan joining the staff is coming next. He has most recently been the Director of Basketball Operations at Mississippi State, and also worked in administrative roles at George Mason and Troy.

  • I have heard that Connor Wheeler will become the Video Coordinator at Southern Mississippi. He had spent the past two seasons as a graduate assistant at Missouri.

  • USC Salkehatchie will add Koy Garmrath as an assistant coach. He most recently served as the program assistant at Arkansas State.

  • Montel Vidot will be hired as the graduate assistant at the University of Mary (ND). He joins Joe Kittell’s staff after serving as a manager at Oklahoma State.

  • Lindsey Wilson College assistant Lee DeForest will become the head coach at Combine Academy (NC). Last season was his first at LWC – he had served as an assistant at Angelo State before that. Prior to Angelo State, DeForest spent 11 years as a high school coach in both Kentucky and Florida.

  • On campus interviews are underway at DII Southern New Hampshire. I have heard that they are bringing in as many as eleven coaches. More on this one as I hear it.

  • On campus interviews are also underway at Western Connecticut. It sounds like three current DIII head coaches are in the mix as well as interim head coach Jason Harlow. Sounds like this one could be done next week.

  • Phone interviews began last week at DIII Curry College. At least one MASCAC head coach is in play here. Sounds like the field will be narrowed at the end of this week, with on campus interviews beginning shortly.

  • DIII Emmanuel College is about to enter the interview stage in their search. I have heard that they received close too 200 applications for the job.
