Daily Dirt – 5/13/19

Woke up to the John Beilein to the Cavs news. I guess it’s going to be an interesting week….Here are a few other things going on:

  • Speaking of Beilein…DII LeMoyne has wrapped up their search for a replacement for Patrick Beilein (Niagara). An offer has been made and accepted. I’ll be off double secret probation shortly with the name…

  • 2018-19 NJCAA DII National Champion Kirkwood CC (IA) is already down to their final four as they search to replace head coach Bryan Petersen (became an assistant at South Dakota State). The names that I’ve heard are: Brett Putz (assistant coach Chicago State), Chad Welk (assistant coach St. Cloud State), Taylor Blum (assistant coach Kirkwood CC), and a current NJCAA DIII head coach.

  • NJCAA DI Jacksonville College has moved quickly to replace Aaron Smith who became the head coach at Panola last week. Current assistant Louis Truscott has been promoted and will become the head coach. An official announcement is expected shortly.

  • I have heard that Ron White will be named as the new head basketball coach at NJCAA DIII Malcolm X. College (Chicago). He has most recently been an assistant coach at nearby Olive Harvey College.

  • Missed this one from a few weeks ago…DIII Waynesburg College (PA) is open. Head Coach Mark Christner left to become the WBB coach at Calvin College (MI) – his alma mater. He went 88-152 in his nine seasons at PAC member Waynesburg.
