A few things that I’ve heard…

  • I have heard that Clarendon College (TX) head coach Isaac Fontenot-Amedee has become an assistant at Louisiana Monroe. Amedee had been at Clarendon since 2015, and was a HS coach in Louisiana before that. This past season he led Clarendon to a 29-3 record. His best player, Russell Harrison, was named Texas Association of Basketball Coaches Junior College Player of the Year, and signed at Louisiana Monroe.
  • Word on the street is that Clarendon College has already hired Fontenot-Amedee’s replacement – it sounds like the choice is former Buffalo assistant Hunter Jenkins. A Texas native, Jenkins had also served as a GA at Texas Tech, and as an assistant at Odessa College (TX). He resigned early on during the 2019-20 season at Buffalo. More here when it becomes official.

  • Missouri State DBO Sheldon Everett has been bumped up to assistant coach according to a report in the Springfield News-Leader. He will replace Jake Headrick who became an assistant at Samford earlier this spring. Also, according to the report, Everett’s salary will go from $48,700 to $78,000. Associate head coach Corey Gipson and assistant Jase Herl will also get increases – Gibson will go from $108,676 to $120,000 while Herl will go from $93,239 to $115,224.
  • It sounds like Northeastern State (OK) has already held four interviews in their quest to replace Mark Downey (departed for Arkansas Tech). I have heard that current assistant Nathan Kennedy is in the mix, along with three current D2 head coaches – 2 from the Great American Conference, and one from the Gulf South Conference. More on this one as I hear it.
