Daily Dirt – 5/15/20

A few things to wrap-up the week…

  • I have heard that the search at McCook CC (NE) has wrapped up. Of the five finalists, the name that I’ve heard here the most is Dakota Wesleyan associate head coach Jacob Brandl. The Nebraska native has been at DWU for the past eight seasons, and was at Midland University (NE) before that. More on this one as I hear it.
  • It sounds like the search at D3 Colorado College is down to two finalists, and on campus interviews are underway. Word on the street is that a D1 assistant from the WAC is interviewing today. This should be wrapped up by next week.
  • I have heard that Buffalo is close to hiring a current JUCO head coach to fill their open assistant spot. The position opened in November when Hunter Jenkins resigned due to an NCAA investigation (Jenkins has now been hired as the head coach at JUCO Clarendon College – DAILY DIRT – 5/13). More on Buffalo’s hiring when I confirm.
  • College of Central Florida assistant Jake Zehnder has become an assistant at D2 Francis Marion University (SC). Zehnder had spent the past six seasons at CF working for Tim Ryan, who will become the head coach at Mississippi Gulf Coast CC (JUCO DIRT). Both of these moves were made necessary because the college made the decision to discontinue their basketball program.
