Daily Dirt – 5/16/17

A few things…

  • Roy Williams confirmed to the Herald-Sun that UNC DBO Brad Frederick is on the road recruiting and will be bumped up to to assistant coach replacing C.B. McGrath who became the head coach at UNC Wilmington earlier in the spring. It also sounds like assistant DBO Sean May will be elevated to replace Frederick. Both moves would become official on July 1st.

  • I have heard that Derek Kellogg is in the process of filling his staff at LIU. Word on the street is that he is only taking 1-2 guys from UMass, and will be talking to others during the first week of June to solidify the staff. More as I hear it…

  • Justin Levine has been promoted to Video Coordinator at VCU under new head coach Mike Rhoades. He spent the past two seasons as a Graduate Assistant on Will Wade’s staff.

  • Loyola Marymount assistant Reggie Morris has resigned an will become the head coach at Culver City (CA) HS. Last season was his first at LMU – he was the head coach at Redondo Union (CA) HS before that.

  • The Idaho Statesman confirmed an Evan Daniels report that Boise State assistant John Rillie is headed to UCSB. Rille had been on the Boise State staff for the past seven seasons. A native of Australia, Rille played professionally overseas for 16-seasons after wrapping up his playing career at Gonzaga.

  • Interviews are under way to fill the vacant assistant spot on new head coach Kevin Hopkins staff at DIII Muhlenberg College. I have heard that phone interviews have started with 8-12 candidates.
