Today’s Daily Dirt…
- It sounds like former Iona head coach Jeff Ruland is in the mix for a spot on Jimmy Patsos’ staff at Siena. Ruland was the head coach at his alma mater Iona from 1998-2007 (139-135), and spent 2009-2013 as the head coach at the University of District Columbia (40-61). He was the 25th pick in the 1980 draft, and played in the NBA for 12 seasons. Siena is looking to fill an assistant spot as well as the DBO position. Sounds like these will both be done in a few weeks.
- DII Paine College has elevated Chase Campbell to head coach. He replaces Jimmy Link who became the head coach at Clayton State earlier this month. Campbell is a Paine College alum who has also worked as an assistant at Newberry (SC). Sounds like the official announcement will be made today.
- I have heard that NAIA Cardinal Stritch assistant Chris Milner has been named as the head coach at Whitefish Bay HS (WI). He was on Drew Diener’s staff at Stritch for the past four seasons (Diener became the head coach at Rockhurst a few weeks ago). Milner is also a teacher at Whitefish Bay.
- Wisconsin HS basketball gains a coach in Milner, but also loses one….I can confirm that new DII Lindenwood (MO) head coach Lance Randall has hired Germantown HS (WI) head coach Steve Showalter as his top assistant. Showalter was the head coach at Germantown for 15 seasons and collected 3 State Championships along the way.
