A few quick things to kick off the first week of June…
Veteran Moves On After Long Run at Boston University
I can confirm that Curtis Wilson is no longer an assistant at Boston University. The veteran coach had been on the Terriers staff for the past fourteen seasons, and had been at Yale for 12 years before that. No word on his landing spot yet, but multiple sources point to Marist as a possible destination.
New Mexico’s Elmore on the Move
Rusty Elmore has departed the New Mexico State staff and will become an assistant at Jacksonville State. Elmore joined the NMSU staff this past fall after a successful run as at JUCO head coach at NJCAA D1’s Garden City College (KS) and Colby Community College (KS).
D3 Assistant Climbing the Ladder — Headed to D1 Mercyhurst
Mercyhurst will add Kyle Milligan to their staff as an assistant coach. Milligan spent last season as an assistant at D3 SUNY Oswego and has also served as a graduate assistant at D3 Russell Sage College. An official announcement is expected shortly.
Unexpected Opening Hits D2 Allen (Again)
I have heard from multiple sources that D2 Allen University is open for the second time this off-season. Andre Payne, who was hired as the Yellow Jackets head coach back in mid-April following a successful stint as the head women’s coach at Talladega College, has reportedly departed the university. Payne replaced Shawn Walker who resigned following this past season. More on this move once it becomes official.
Could a Familiar Face Be Headed Back to West Liberty?
Obviously everyone the biggest D2 rumor out there is Coker’s Michael Lamberti to West Liberty. Lamberti served on the WL staff for five seasons under former head coach Ben Howlett (new head coach at D1 IU Indy). Lamberti has gone 34-24 (.586) in his two seasons at Coker. Not sure where this one stands, but sounds like we will have some more info in the next 24-48 hours.
