Former Western Illinois head coach Billy Wright is headed to the high school ranks, and will become the head coach at Richmond HS (IN). Wright most recently served as an assistant at Ball State after being released at WIU last spring after a six-year stint as the head coach there. He is a Richmond, IN native.


The Roanoke Times is reporting that Virginia Tech head coach Mike Young has received a three-year extension that will keep him under contract through the the 2026-27 season. According to the report, Young, who has been at Tech for the past two seasons, was due to make $2.25 million in total pay next season, $2.5 million in his fourth year and $2.75 million in his fifth year. It is unclear at this point what his pay would look like under the new extension. Young has gone 31-23 so far during his tenure in Blacksburg.


The salaries for Indiana’s three assistant coaches has been obtained by the Tribune-Star. All three coaches will make betwen $300-$400,000 – here’s the breakdown: Dane Fife – $375,000 (plus a $25k retention bonus if he’s employed by IU past 5/1/22); Kenya Hunter – $350,000; Yasir Rosemond – $300,000. Also, according to the report, other perks include: all three coaches have bonus structures in their contract that include one month’s salary for making the NCAA Tournament, an additional month’s salary for reaching the Sweet 16/Elite 8, an additional month’s salary for reaching the Final Four and an additional month’s salary for winning a national championship. All three contracts include a courtesy car and a $2,000 Adidas product allowance.


According to multiple reports, Siena assistant Antoni Wyche will join Mike Brey’s staff at Notre Dame. Wyche is a 1999 Notre Dame grad, who scored 825 points during his career for the Irish. In addition to his two seasons at Siena, Wyche also served as an assistant for ten years at Lehigh. After graduating from ND, Wyche played professionally overseas in Macedonia, Mexico, Finland, Japan, Qatar, and Jordan.


The Des Moines Register examined Iowa State head coach TJ Otzelberger’s “creative” new contract. Highlights of the 5-year, $1.5M/yr deal include: base compensation: $300,000/yr., additional compensation: $700,000/yr., retirement benefits of $300,000/yr., and premiums for supplemental death benefit of $200,000/yr. Iowa State also agreed to a “reimbursable employee business expense” of up to $3.4 million to Otzelberger for the full buyout required by his contact at UNLV.
