Tuesday’s Dirt…

It sounds like D3 Amherst College has wrapped up their search to replace long-time head coach David Hixon. All indications are that Columbia associate head coach Marlon Sears is the leader here among the final 6 candidates. Sears, who is in his second stint at Columbia, has also been the head coach at Montclair State (2016-19) and an assistant at Cornell, Binghamton, Wagner, High Point. It sounds like an announcement could be made as early as this afternoon.

On Sunday, I mentioned that Rice Director of Basketball Operations Rhett Bonner had departed for a HS job in North Carolina. I have now heard that Ryan Kapustka will replace him as the DBO on the Owls staff. Kapustka was most recently a graduate assistant at Rice, and also served as a manager at Michigan.

D3 Maine Maritime assistant Ben Tanoff has been hired in an administrative role on Josh Pastner’s staff at Georgia Tech. Last season was Tanoff’s first at MMA, he was previously at graduate assistant at UPike.

New NAIA Huntington University head coach Kory Alford has hired Ryan Strohm as an assistant. Strohm, a former GA under Bruce Weber at Kansas State, worked last season as an assistant at D3 Manchester University (IN).
