Daily Dirt – 6/23/17

A bunch of things to wrap-up the week…

  • I mentioned earlier this week that Washington and Lee head coach Adam Hutchinson had resigned (DIII DIRT). It has now been confirmed that he is headed back to his alma mater Amherst College where he will become an assistant coach.

  • Talledega College head coach Matt Cross has resigned. He has been the head coach at TC for the past six seasons, and led his squad to a 22-11 record this past year. He has officially become the women’s basketball coach at Louisiana State University-Shreveport.

  • Ben Franklin Institute of Technology (MA), a DIII JUCO, is re-starting their men’s basketball program. I have heard that Wentworth Institute of Technology assistant coach Geoff Lerner will be named as the new head coach there. The 2009 Ithaca graduate joined the Wentworth staff back in 2015.

  • St Mary’s College of Maryland assistant coach Walter Booth has departed the staff and has become the head coach at St. Mary’s Ryken HS. He spent last season as the first-ever full-time assistant at St. Mary’s, and had served as an assistant at Bowie High School (2013-15) and Takoma Academy (2012-13) before that.

  • New John Carroll University (OH) head coach Pete Moran will add his brother Pat to his staff.  Pat Moran has been the head coach at Madison (OH) HS for the past eleven seasons.

  • Norwich University (VT) assistant coach Didier Dinh will become an assistant at Gordon College (MA). He has been on the Cadets staff for the past four seasons, and has also worked as an assistant at Wheelock College (MA) and with Metro Boston AAU.

  • I’ve heard that the 5 finalists at Centenary University (NJ) include a DII assistant, two DIII assistants from PA, and two DIII assistants from down south. Sounds like this will be wrapped up within the next week or so.
