Daily Dirt – 7/11/11

Busy weekend on the road – heard a ton of "dirt." Here you go…..

Bobby Taylor will be named as an assistant at Texas A&M University-Commerce. He will replace Jason Burton, who joined the staff at Texas State. Taylor spent the last few years coaching in the Arena Football League, but has a ton of college basketball experience. He has mad stops at Paris Junior College (TX), Grand Valley State (MI), Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, and Neosho County CC (KS).

Matt Adams has been added as the associate head coach at Keene State (NH). He spent last season as the graduate assistant at Franklin Pierce College (NH), and worked at Rutgers-Newark before that. He spent 2007-2009 on the Keene State staff.

It sounds like Rhode Island College assistant James Sorrentine is the leader for the ops job at Bryant University. Prior to RIC, he was an assistant at his alma mater St. Mike’s. His brother is current Brown assistant T.J. Sorrentine.

Dave Clarke has taken over the program at Owens CC (OH). He has been on staff at Bowling Green and Toledo in operations roles and spent the last two seasons as an assistant at Mott CC (MI).

I’ve heard that Worcester Polytech assistant Rob Southall will accept a similar spot at DII American International College (MA). Southall has been an assistant at WPI for the past six seasons. He has also worked at Springfield and Bates.

Sources tell me that Stonehill College will hire Mike Quinn as an assistant. He recently graduated from league rival Bentley University. Quinn has coaching in his blood – he is the son of St. Thomas More (CT) head coach Jere Quinn, and the brother of Winchendon head coach Matt Quinn.

Jack Schenzel will become the next head coach at Penn State-Mont Alto. Schenzel served as the women’s assistant at Shippensburg (PA) for the past five seasons. He replaces Ed Flory who was at the helm for 1 season.

South Dakota State has added former Nevada manager Nick Goff as the graduate assistant. He spent three seasons in his role at Nevada.
