Some things that I’ve heard…

  • Alfred Beard has been named as the interim head coach at Paine College (GA). He replaces Darryl Stinson who became an assistant coach at Lynn University (FL). Beard is a former player at Paine, who currently serves as the assistant AD for compliance at the college.

  • Othyus Jeffers is out as the head coach at NAIA Robert Morris University (IL) after two seasons. He will be replaced by former head coach Al Bruehl (who retired back in 2017). Midway through the 2017-18 season, Bruehl came out of retirement to take over as the interim head women’s coach at RMU. In his 20 seasons as the head men’s coach at the University, he captured 14 CACC titles.

  • Interviews at DIII Rockford University (IL) are underway. I have heard that the group is down to four, and includes a current NAIA head coach, two DIII assistants, and a coach from out of the region. It sounds like two were in yesterday, and two more today. More on this one as I hear it.

  • Interviews at DIII Manhattanville College (NY) are also happening this week. One coach was on campus yesterday, and another is going in today. I’ve heard at least one of the candidates has NBA experience.

  • Denver Klaus has been hired at the new assistant coach at Colorado Christian University. He replaces Abe Lodwick who left to pursue other business opportunities. Prior to joining the CCU staff he was the Athletic Director at Faith Christian Middle School and Head Girl’s Basketball Coach at the High School in Denver.
