Some things that I’ve heard from the JUCO world…
- In a TWEET late last week, I mentioned that a local JUCO assistant would take over as the new head coach at Palm Beach State. I can now confirm that Broward College assistant Richard Grant is the choice there. Before joining the Broward staff last season, Grant had spent three seasons as an assistant at New Mexico Military Institute, and also worked for one season as the DBO at Wagner. He will replace Martin McCann who became the head coach at Daytona State last month.
- I have heard that Ryan Flack has taken over as the new head coach at Marshalltown CC (IA). An assistant at MCC for the past three seasons, he replaces his former boss Brynjar Brynjarsson who resigned earlier this spring. Flack, who played at Marshalltown, has also worked as an assistant at John Wood CC (IL), and as a graduate assistant at South Dakota State.
- Dennis Orellana has replaced Geoff Lerner as the head coach at Ben Franklin Institute of Technology (MA). Orellana had been an assistant in the program for the past two seasons, and was a local HS and AAU coach before that.
