A bunch of things that I’ve heard…
- Eastern Illinois will add Justin Brown as an assistant coach. He had spent the past two seasons as an assistant coach at South Plains College (TX), and also served as an assistant at Utah State Eastern. An official announcement is expected as early as today.
- According to multiple reports, Wichita State assistant Donnie Jones will become an assistant at Dayton. He and current Flyers head coach Anthony Grant had previously worked together as assistants for Billy Donovan at both Marshall and Florida.
- I have heard that Charlotte will hire David Belfield as a graduate assistant. Last season was his first as an assistant at USC Aiken following his playing career as a player for the Pacers.
- I have heard from a great source that Northern Arizona graduate assistant Darius Carter will become an assistant coach at Southern Wesleyan (SC). He is a 2016 graduate of Tusculum College (TN) where he was an all-conference player who scored 1,338 during his career.
- It sounds like Miami Dade assistant Ward Griffith will join Kevin Burton’s staff at Union College (KY). Griffith had been as assistant at Miami Dade for the past five seasons, and had previously worked for Burton at Lambuth University (TN). He played at Mississippi State and also worked for John Pelphrey at South Alabama.
- I have heard that Rivier College (NH) assistant Shannon Sciria will become an assistant at Colby-Sawyer College (NH). Before joining the Rivier staff, Sciria was a women’s assistant at St. Anselm College (NH) and Southern New Hampshire. He played his final two seasons at Colby-Sawyer.
- Central Maine Community College assistant Jesse Dixon will become an assistant coach at Edgewater HS in his native Orlando. He had spent the past two seasons at CMCC following his playing career at University of Maine at Presque Isle.
- I have heard that Bernie Fitzgerald will be hired as the associate head coach at Gywnedd-Mercy University. He had previously served as the associate head coach at the college from 2011-2015. An official announcement is expected shortly.
- Andrew College (NC) has added Jamison Williams as an assistant coach. He played collegiately at South Georgia State and Thomas University. Williams also spent one season as a student assistant at TU.
