Daily Dirt – 8/24/22

Story: Adam Nelson (@HD_DirtKing)

I have heard that Richard Grant, who recently resigned as the head coach at NJCAA D1 USC Salkehatchie is in the mix to join Reggie Theus’ staff at Bethune-Cookman. Grant was on the job at USC Salk for about two months. and had previously served as the head coach at Palm Beach State. USC Salk has cancelled their basketball season following Grant’s departure.

Edmond Pryor, who was hired as the defensive analyst at New Mexico State in July, was arrested and accused of “creating and selling forged employment records for criminal defendants on electronic monitoring to trick officials who administer house arrest.” The Chicago Times reports that Pryor was charged with “a single count of forgery, a Class 3 felony. He was released from jail after posting the $5,000 bail set by Judge Charles Beach II. Another judge last week gave Pryor permission to leave the state and travel for his job.” An official with the university’s sports program on Monday confirmed with the Times that Pryor remained with team but declined further comment.

Tom Doran, who was recently hired as an assistant at D3 SUNY Oneonta, is on the move again. I have heard that he has landed an admininstive spot at Princeton (video/ops role). Doran was hired in the spring at Oneonta, and had previously been a manager at Wake Forest, serving under both Danny Manning and Steve Forbes.

It sounds like Doran will be replaced at SUNY Oneonta by Albany Pharmacy assistant coach Chad Boyles. Last season was Boyles first at ACHPS after graduating from SUNY Cortland in 2021. The official announcement is expected shortly.

Word on the street is that Brandeis assistant Sam Rubinstein is headed to Middlebury. Rubinstein has been at Brandeis since 2019, and had worked for the Hoop Group before that. More on this when it becomes official.

I have heard that a D3 down south is opening – stay tuned…**CONFIRMED – it’s Berea College (KY). More -> D3 DIRT.

ICYMI from yesterday, D3 SUNY Canton will hire St. John Fisher assistant coach Dylan Seikel as their new head coach. More -> D3 DIRT.
