Daily Dirt – 8/31/20

Crazy that this is the last day of August already. Very curious to see what September brings for college basketball. Here are a few things that I’ve heard over the last couple of days…

A few high major graduate assistant hirings:

  • I have heard that Stephen Rodgers has been hired as a GA at Florida State. He most recently spent time on the staff at Missouri Baptist. Rodgers has also worked as a national recruiting analyst for Big Shots Basketball.
  • Brandon Benson has been added as a GA on Chris Collins staff at Northwestern. He had previously worked as a manager at Middle Tennessee State.

Former Bryant University and Ohio University head coach Tim O’Shea has come out of retirement and has become the head coach at Naval Academy Prep. More on this move from the GoLocalProv HERE.

It sounds like D2 Emporia State (KS) assistant Brandon Schwebke has become the full-time assistant at NAIA Clarke University (IA). Last season was Schwebke’s first at ESU, and he has also been an assistant at Dordt University (IA). He will replace Charlie Wallrapp who became an assistant at D2 Northern Michigan.

Joseph Popovich Jr. will be joining the Centenary University (NJ) Men’s Basketball staff as an assistant coach. Popovich was most recently a graduate manager at Southern Methodist University. Prior to his time at SMU, he was a manager for four years at Creighton.
