Daily Dirt – 9/8/14

A few things to kick off the week…

• Daemen College has abruptly fired head coach Don Silveri. In 25 years as the head coach at the Amherst, NY school, Silveri compiled a 414-344 record (21-7 last season). No word on the reason for his dismissal. Assistant coach Mike Miranto will serve as the interim head coach.

• SUNY-New Paltz head coach Mike Rejniak has hired Kevin Seetal as an assistant coach. Seetal was most recently an assistant at Mt. Ida College (MA), and has also been involved with two Western Massachusetts AAU Programs (Drive Hoops in 2013 and Jaguars in 2011-12).

• Former Bowling Green assistant Dennis Hopson has landed as the head coach at Bedford (OH) HS. Hopson, who was the #3 pick in the 1987 NBA draft had been at Bowling Green since 2009, and was not retained when Chris Jans took the job this spring. He will be formally introduced tonight.
