Daily Dirt – 9/6/17

Here are a few things that I’ve heard as school gets underway…

  • I can confirm that Matt Vogel has been named as the Director of Basketball Operations on Derek Kellogg’s new staff at LIU Brooklyn. He had been on Kellogg’s administrative staff at UMass since 2009, serving most recently as the operations coordinator.

  • It sounds like Mike Oliva has been promoted to Director of Basketball Operations at Florida International. He had been the assistant DBO for the past three seasons. He started his tenure at FIU as the Video Coordinator back in 2013.

  • I have heard that former Duquesne assistant John Rhodes has joined the basketball staff at IMG Academy. He had been on Jim Ferry’s staff at Duquesne for the past five seasons, and has also been an assistant at Northeastern, Ohio, and St. Bonaventure. In addition, Rhodes served as the head coach at Ohio Northern from 2009-12.

  • I have heard that Grant Bale has been named as a Graduate Assistant at Illinois. He had been working on the Illinois staff as an undergrad for the past four seasons.

  • Eshaunte Jones has joined the staff at Panola JC (TX). He began his playing career at Nebraska before finishing up at Northern Kentucky in 2012. Jones was most recently an assistant at the Gannon Baker Sports Institute.

  • I have heard that Joe Cabral has been named as the Associate Head Coach at DIII Dean College (MA). He spent last season as the Associate Head Coach at Lasell College (MA), and has also worked at Rhode Island College. He will now be working for his father, Rico Cabral at Dean.
