Daily Dirt – Easter Edition – 3/27/16

A quick Easter Edition of the Daily Dirt…

  • Kevin Stallings to Pitt is the hottest rumor out there right now.  I’ve heard from a lot of Pitt fans since this one first broke last evening…and they are all upset.  Not sure exactly why.  Stallings has won 332 games over the past 17 seasons at Vanderbilt, and has run a first-class program during his time in Nashville. Maybe not the flashiest guy in the world (similar to their former coach), but he will do a great job there…
  • I’ve mentioned Texas A&M assistant coach Rick Stansbury and his involvement at Western Kentucky on Thursday and Friday.  The Bowling Green Daily News was the first to mention yesterday that the deal is done and Stansbury will be named as the new head coach at WKU as early as Monday.  More on this tomorrow.
  • Last week, I talked about Columbia head coach Kyle Smith and his name being linked to the Portland job.  I have now heard his name being mentioned surrounding the search at San Francisco as well.  Obviously both make sense – he was an assistant in the WCC at St. Mary’s, and has had a lot of success at Columbia (his 23-10 Lions face NJIT today in the CIT semifinals). I would assume we’ll hear more after Columbia’s season ends.
