Daily Dirt II – 4/12/19

Busy day. Wanted to clear a few things off my plate with a second Daily Dirt of the day. Headed to sunny Toronto in the morning for a week…

  • Obviously a lot of talk surrounding Northern Kentucky’s John Brannen at Cincinnati. A couple of other names making the rounds right now are former Vanderbilt head coach Bryce Drew and Michigan State associate head coach Dane Fife.

  • Jerry Stackhouse has finalized his staff at Vanderbilt. it’s been quiet as they all go through the HR process, but the one name that I’ve heard who will be joining the staff is current Grizzlies assistant Adam Mazarei. More on this when it becomes official next week.

  • I mentioned the search at DII Assumption in the Daily Dirt earlier today. I have now confirmed that it is in fact three finalists, not two – a MM DI assistant and two head coaches. On campus interviews begin early next week.

  • NAIA Mount Marty College AD Chris Kassin is taking the reigns as the new head basketball coach. Kassin, a long-time assistant basketball coach at the University of South Dakota, took over as the AD at MMC back in 2017.

So Cincinnati is going to hire as its new head coach a guy who just went winless in the SEC? File that under never.
