Daily Dirt II – 4/5/17

Been a busy day. Here are a few more things that I’ve heard while flipping between the Red Sox and Celtics…

  • Earlier today in the first edition of the Daily Dirt, I mentioned some names at New Mexico. I’ve now been told that UT Arlington head coach Scott Cross should be added to the list. He led the Mavs to a 27-9 record this past season, and advanced to the NIT quarterfinals.
  • The rumors that former Washington head coach Lorenzo Romar may join Sean Miller’s staff at Arizona are heating up. Romar had been at Washington for the past 15 seasons before being released in Early March. Miller is searching for a replacement for Joe Pasternack who became the head coach at UCSB yesterday.
  • The search at DIII John Carroll University is winding down, and I have heard that an announcement is expected this week. Multiple sources have now told me that the leader here is assistant coach Pete Moran. He is the son of long-time JCU head coach Mike Moran who retired at the end of the season. The younger Moran played for his father at JCU, and has been on his staff for the past five seasons.
  • Another small college search wrapping up is at NAIA Webber International (FL). The hot name here is former Lee University head coach Tommy Brown. He had spent 11-seasons at Lee, and was part of their transition from NAIA to NCAA DII, before being released following the 2015-16 season.
