DAILY DIRT: Two D3 head coaches set to become D1 assistants

A couple of DIII head coaches headed to the DI level as assistants…

  • It’s been confirmed that Arcadia University (PA) head coach Justin Scott will be named as an assistant coach on Billy Lange’s new staff at St. Joe’s. Scott, a Philadelphia native, has been the head coach at Arcadia for the past six seasons. This past season, he led the Knights to a 23-6 (14-2 MAC) record and captured the MAC Commonwealth Championship. He wraps up his tenure at Arcadia with 104-87 record.

  • Multiple sources have told me that Montclair State University head coach Marlon Sears will become an assistant coach at Columbia. He would replace Kenny Blakeney who became the head coach at Howard earlier this spring. Sears is no stranger to the Ivy League, having spent five seasons as an assistant at Cornell, and one at Columbia (2009-10). He has been the head coach at Montclair State for the past four season where he went 59-46 (17-10 this past season).

More on both of these once they become official.
