  • New Mexico DBO Cody Hopkins has been placed on paid leave as UNM conducts an internal investigation into the use of his university credit card.  In a statement released by New Mexico VP for Athletics Paul Krebs, he said “We are working closely with Internal Auditing in assessing recent transactions from Hopkins’ purchasing card.  We are requesting additional documentation and records from Hopkins, who is cooperating with the process. Once the audit is complete, all records will be reviewed by the proper authorities.”  More on this as information becomes available.
  • First-year Citadel head coach Duggar Baucom has the Bulldogs ranked #1 in the nation in points per game (93.1) – up almost 30 from last season.  FoxSports.com did a great piece on Baucom, his fast paced-offense, and his remarkable journey from State Trooper, to heart attack survivor to college basketball coach.  It’s definitely worth the read: Pacemaker: New coach turns The Citadel (really?) into nation’s top-scoring team.
  • Yesterday, HoopDirt.com mentioned Larry Brown’s return to the sidelines after serving his NCAA imposed nine game suspension.  Quick update…SMU beat Kent State 90-74 to remain perfect on the season (10-0).  SMU will play for the Continental Tires Las Vegas Classic Championship tonight vs. Colorado.
